Leading the way for lunar robotics

As part of the Artemis program to send the first woman and the next man to the Moon by 2024 in preparation for a human mission to Mars, NASA has selected Maxar to provide a robotic arm for SAMPLR, which will head to Earth’s moon to acquire samples of lunar regolith. Separately, NASA’s New Frontiers mission will explore Titan, Saturn’s largest moon, using a flying drone with Maxar-built cameras.

As we raise a toast to the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing and the incredible crew who helped put man on the Moon, we also salute the pioneering aerospace engineers and scientists of Maxar’s past who built the infrastructure that made it all possible.

What's in the air we breathe?

Maxar will integrate and fly NASA’s Tropospheric Emissions: Monitoring of Pollution (TEMPO) instrument on a 1300-class satellite in geostationary (GEO) orbit. TEMPO will be the first space-based instrument to provide hourly monitoring of major air pollutants during the daytime across the North American continent at high spatial resolution.
